Another Commuter Cruiser Season Winding Down …

A very sad day for the Winterluders.  In about an hour, we’ll let go of our mooring J4 in Boot Key Harbor, Marathon, sail under the 7 Mile Bridge and sail north, heading in the general direction of “home” for the boat.  It’s almost time to start preparing Winterlude for hurricane season.

But in the meantime, we have a few more fun anchorages to explore and places to go … tonight will be Little Shark River, in the Everglades National Park, a convenient stop while traveling from the Keys to Florida’s West Coast, then we’ll either hop on up the West Coast to Charlotte Harbor, or if the weather decides to give us a decent window, we may opt for an overnight.  We’ll see.

What we know for sure, is that there will be no more anchorages with waters like this until next season ….

But we’re also looking forward to sailing the Y Flyer, seeing all our lake friends, slalom skiing and seeing Gilly and Rowan again!  I always say Commuter Cruisers have the best of both worlds!

Gilly - still too young to realize we've been gone, but always glad to see us!

I have lots of catching up to do on my posts for Commuter Cruiser, so soon CC will have more posts.  Thank you so much for staying tuned and not giving up on us while we’re out cruising!  Cheers!  Jan & David

  1. How do you find Boot Key ? Expensive ? Not friendly ? I’ve been reading Mariners Bar and they seem to have a lot of trouble there.
