Sad, sad times.  It’s almost time to leave sv Winterlude for five months for hurricane season.  I have very mixed emotions about leaving the boat this year — on one hand, I’m excited about picking up our new Lance 1685 travel trailer (for that story, click the preceding link) in a couple of weeks.  On the other hand, I hate leaving sv Winterlude in a hurricane zone.  It was so much easier to leave when we were in Panama or even the Rio Dulce, Guatemala.  No constant worrying about where this TD or that disturbance might be heading.  This year leaving is also compounded by my Dad being in a nursing home only 2 hours from the boat.  He’s getting stronger every day, so it’s time to think about heading north.

Every year we leave the boat in the water during hurricane season, we use essentially the same checklist, just updated.  Here is this year’s checklist – a free PDF for you to download and use to develop your own checklist.   Click the link.

Still more preparation to do, but hopefully this will be helpful!   Please leave a comment and share if I’ve missed anything that you have on your list. Cheers!  Jan
