Daily Comings & Goings

Manatees are not very photogenic, but every now and then, we get lucky.

Manatees are not very photogenic, but every now and then, we get lucky.

In the past 18 months, we’ve traveled from the east coast to Alaska in search of wildlife. But the reality is, we see more wildlife here in the marina than most any other place we’ve traveled so far…   Great Horned Owls nest in a tree along our walk, alligators live in our marina and ponds, American Bald Eagles soar above our mast, an occasional armadillo saunters across the sidewalk, dolphins frolic tossing their fish into the air sometimes colliding with our hull, mullets jump, osprey’s swoop down and grab a fish, cormorants dive beneath the water and surface to dry their wings …..  Wood storks, an endangered species are so frequent you forget they’re endangered …

But twice a day, it’s always a thrill when the manatee parade swims by the boat!

Life is good!

  1. Hi Jan and Dave. How great to see all of those creatures there. Especially one of my favourites. I love manatees. Wish folks would leave them alone in Crystal River though. Enjoy. We’re getting snow…I have convinced Jim to bring the tri your way and cruise there over Christmas Holidays. Can’t wait.
