Walking away from the boat each year makes me sad. Particularly this year since we’re leaving early to embark on adventures where the boat just can’t go … Southwest Utah & lots of National Parks.
We hauled at Marathon Boatyard (in Marathon in the Florida Keys for those not familiar with the area). We need lots of special attention this summer – replacing leaky seals in the 30 year old transmission for example.
And the bottom … it’s always about the bottom. Luckily this year, there does not seem to be an additional crop of blisters. Which is great news because it means our “temporary fix” from our haul 2 years ago that turned from a week into 2 months, may have helped after all.
Plus countless other things – we’re having the fridge compartment evaluated to be totally redone. Our recent DIY additional insulation and seals helped considerably, but it really needs a total overhaul. We’ll see how much that’s going to run before deciding.
So for now … GOODBYE WINTERLUDE, we’ll see you soon and think about you every day.
And yes, I must confess to a tear or two as we walked away for the last time this year…. But we’re on to new adventures and the focus of the blog has switched for now over to TrailerTraveler.net … no worries, I’ll still post updates as we get them from the yard plus anything else relevant to cruising on CommuterCRUISER.com.
