It’s not every day a seaplane – even an experimental one – crashes less than 2 miles outside our marina in Charlotte Harbor.
Luckily this story had a semi-happy ending – even though the plane flipped into the water on impact, the pilot was able to climb out uninjured. Luckily it crashed close to shallow water and they towed it to a sandbar to refloat and tow it to the marina.
As we were diligently working on getting the boat ready to leave, David says “get up here & bring your camera” …. which I’m always happy to do, but seeing a plane being towed by a Towboat US boat was a bit unusual … to say the least! Here’s more on the story. They pulled the plane out of the water at the ramp and onto a trailer, this morning it was gone, so we’re waiting for “The Rest of The Story”.
