When we sailed into Boot Key Harbor and picked up mooring ball J-4, David said — “there’s another Passport right behind us”. I said “no way, the shape looks right, but he has stainless cabin top grab bars and no teak”.
Later, when we dinghied by to say hello, we found out that it IS a Passport, but a 40, not a 37 like us. It was in GREAT shape and we were lucky enough to get a tour – 1983 and even better shape than Winterlude. I was so jealous, although Winterlude is no slouch.
Turns out Herman Diebler and his wife, Frances, have been upgrading s/v Grendel since they bought her new in 1983! Click here to see more about Herman’s renovations. Even if you don’t have an older Passport, there are lots of good ideas. Enjoy!
