I would expect no less of Key West, but the Christmas Boat Parade was outstanding! Despite the crowds (I’m allergic to crowds), we had a great time. We watched from “off the beaten” parade path, over by the pool bar at the Galleon Marina with friends. Great evening, beautiful boats – puts some of the other Christmas Boat Parades we’ve seen to shame.
Rudolph lead David’s favorite decorated boat — the US Coast Guard entry — David doesn’t remember “his” Coast Guard having this much fun. But then he was never stationed in Key West! Rudolph actually did several donuts (spinning the boat) right off the Galleon Marina sea wall, treating those of us watching from to a dazzling spin of lights.
Watching from the Galleon Marina Pool Bar Deck turned out to be a good choice for us – not prime seats, but also not mobbed such that we could barely see. Maybe we missed some of the boats, but we saw a lot, so life is good!
Somehow those dang crab pots look much prettier in a Christmas Tree than in unpredictable mazes on the water!
And finally a shot of the wharf front – all the palm trees lit up and glittering. Being from the north, it may not feel like Christmas here in Key West, but it certainly is festive!
Enjoying Key West! Anything else we should make sure not to miss while we’re here? Cheers! Jan
Looks like the most fun EVER. I’ve seen many xmas light parades. This surely looks to have topped those. Lucky you!
