Where To Go Now?

The Chamber of Commerce Welcome!

We have limited time since we can’t wait to see our kids and grandkids in early to mid-March.  It’s mid-Febuary, where now?

Look, we're squarely in mid-channel, close to our track in AND in one foot of water according to Garmin. BlueCharts. Clearly, you can't trust anyone but yourselves!

We left Ft Myers Beach/Matanzas Mooring Field at 8:30 am this morning while the tide was still low and going out so as not to contend with the current.

Interestingly, our Garmin BlueCharts GPS showed us in a foot of water but squarely in the middle of the channel!  Just a reminder that relying entirely on the GPS even in waters where charts are updated can be dangerous.  We knew we were in the channel and the depth sounder said we were not in a foot of water.

Sailing (maybe lugging?)under the Sanibel Bridge

Sailing the short distance north, we crossed under the Sanibel Bridge accompanied by the Chamber of Commerce Dolphin Show.  I thanked them graciously, but hope they show up when we have guests aboard in early March.

We dropped the anchor off the Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge on the inside of Sanibel Island & went exploring, more soon!

Winterlude anchored at Ding Darling Nat'l Wildlife Refuge, Sanibel Island. I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to anchor here but the winds weren't permissive. More soon!
