Marquesa Keys

The 2nd test post via e-mail – first one posted, but didn’t show the photo, so try again. We’ve been working on the settings to allow me to post from Winlink or Sailmail when we’re out of internet range (hopefully for awhile).

The photo is the Marquesa Keys … just west and a lifetime away from Key West – between Key West and the Dry Tortugas. We’ve been intrigued by this little island group for awhile, just need the wind and weather to cooperate so we can anchor outside the pass in the right bottom corner of this Google Earth photo. It looks to us like you could take our deeper draft (5 1/2 ft) inside and anchor just inside that inlet – once you get through the shallows. In situations like this, we usually anchor somewhere safe and take our dinghy and portable depthsounder and check it out before trying it in the big boat. I’m sure it’s saved us a lot of unnecessary bumping!

Keep your fingers crossed the e-mail post test works! Cheers! Jan
