Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that NOTHING is ever easy on a boat. The simplest project usually turns out to have some wrinkle that requires hours & numerous trips to the marine stores or Home Depot. Replacing rusty thimbles in our snubber line was no exception.

Smart Phones & Water Don’t Mix!

As cruisers routinely discover, cell phones and water don’t mix! As we use our smart phones for navigation, AIS & weather, there’s more opportunity for them to get knocked overboard, fall in the bilge or even just get wet in a backpack in the dinghy. Don’t let it happen!

Alligators in My Varnish! Oh NO!

Alligators in my varnish … it’s never happened before & online offers conflicting advice on what causes it. If anyone knows exactly what I did wrong, please leave a comment & share – I hate having to go back & patch. The rest of the varnish turned out perfectly. :(

Drat those annoying leaks! Everytime it rains hard, it seems we find another leak. Usually they’re small to tiny and can be fixed (aka bandaided) relatively easily. I guess the constant movement of a boat makes seals not keep sealing perfectly forever.
